Steve’s Comments: This style with conventionalized flower and stem I repeat occasionally but each one is unique. This vase has six red blossoms at the top with incised leaves around the vase giving a ribbed appearance to the vase. The unusual design of this vase are the holes cut out around the vase. If a lit pillar candle is put inside the vase the cut out holes will have a subtle little light, hence the naming of this piece. There is nice undertones of black that appear in the green glazing.

Glaze: Flowing green glaze, applied using two different glazes. The first applied glaze is a matte black, the second glaze application on firing turns a semi-matte green flowing drip glaze with black undertones. The blooms are applied with underglazes.
