Steve’s Comments: This is a nice vase in a glaze other than my usual green for those who like turquoise/blue variations, but it will also have a presence that will go well in an Arts & Crafts or an eclectic setting. The upper half of vase is accomplished by applying a second glaze formula over the turquoise that transforms the turquoise to a grey striated molten lava look. I like flowing glazes better than static glazes as they suggest life and energy, like a volcano’s lava flow.
Description: Wheel thrown vase with five sets of two square windows or cutouts spaced around the top of the vase. Between each set of two windows is an incised vertical line.
Glaze: Mottled and slightly speckled turquoise glaze over-layed with a second flowing drip glaze resulting in a gray molten lava look.
