Pine Stein

Steve’s Comments: This vase is inspired by Roseville “Pine Cone” line, circa 1931. I really enjoy doing parts of a vase with faux-bois (false wood). All the additions are not made in a mold they are hand done and I attach to the vessel shortly after the vessel is thrown on the wheel.

Description: Wheel thrown cylinder stein shape with attached faux-bois handles. Attached pine cones and needles near handles.

Glaze: Green glaze flow, accomplished with two glaze applications. The first a matt black and the second transforming the final fired glaze into a green drip/flow. Glaze flow has some tan coloring and black undertones. Faux-bois glazing done with stains and oxides. I don’t recommended for use as a drinking vessel, best for decorative use only although it is able to hold water. Some glaze bubbles in final glaze firing.
