Steve’s Comment: For this vase I used experimental decorating techniques loosely inspired by Marblehead Pottery decorating techniques, but adding my own twist.

Early 1900’s Marblehead pottery, possibly decorated by Sarah Tutt.
(This pictured antique Marblehead pot is not for sale)
My vase uses three bold dark brown vertical lines as conventionalized tree trunks and the horizontal banding along the bottom as a representation of the ground. The glaze base color is a mottled brown, and at the top I over coated with a flowing green drip glaze representing the weeping leaves of the tree.
Description: Wheel thrown tall multi-glazed vase with collared in neck.
Glaze: Mottled tan with dark brown striping, green flowing glaze from the top of the vase.
